It touches one of the most delicate traffic junctions of the city, the Fortezza da Basso: thanks to the project, this area is now taking on a <strong>\u201cgreen\u201d<\/strong> profile.<br \/>\nCMB has responded to the needs of the <strong>Municipality of Florence<\/strong>, offering details on building site operations in every phase. It has coordinated the sub-contracting enterprises and mobility stakeholders: from the councillor\u2019s office to the presidents of local districts, from the road cleaning manager to the police. The goal: <strong>completing the project in order to reduce the mobility problems of local citizens and around <strong>4.5 km<\/strong>: starting from the current Line 1 terminal, it passes <strong>one of the city\u2019s most delicate traffic junctions<\/strong>, Fortezza da Basso, where, to avoid congestion between road and rail traffic, two substantial vehicle <strong>underpasses<\/strong> have been planned. With regards to the work of art, given the delicacy of the architectural landscape in the Fortezza area, the insertion of underpasses inside the street network (which was designed by the architect, Poggi, in the second half of the 1800s) has been carefully studied; <strong>simulated solutions using traffic<\/strong> models have made it possible to declare the sustainability of the project.<\/p>\n<p>The first underpass, 350 m long and completely covered in Santafiora stone, was constructed in the <strong>record time of a year and a half<\/strong>. The double and single tramway is composed of a deep reinforced concrete basin inside of which there is a double slab supporting and blocking the tram track.
