Leadership transition: Roberto Davoli appointed CMB President
The CMB Board of Directors, held on May 26, marked a handover that closes a cycle lasting more than thirty years and opens a new phase of continuity
. The farewell of Eng. Carlo Zini was formalized, he had already said goodbye to his members during the General Assembly last Friday, May 22, which was also attended by Unipol Chairman Carlo Cimbri to underscore a solid relationship spanning more than 30 years. The Board also appointed Eng. Roberto Davoli, formerly Vice President and General Manager of the CMB Group, as President, alongside Mr. Emiliano Cacioppo, Director of Marketing and Business Development, who has taken on the role of Vice President
Zini leaves after 32 years at the helm of the Carpi-based cooperative, a period marked by a roughly tenfold growth in the main financial indicators, from turnover to equity; all this while safeguarding the cooperative’s identity and keeping people and workplace safety at the centre. “If CMB is the company you know today, it is because its finances are in order and it is financially solid, but also because we have been able to value our members and workers, always placing work and those who do it at the centre: with stable contracts and the best economic conditions, as well as ensuring safety for all the people working on our sites. More than forty years ago, it was CMB’s worker-members themselves who claimed the right to safe working conditions, and from that seed, in 2009, also thanks to Unipol’s sensitivity on the Bologna Tower site, ‘Sicuri per Mestiere’ was born, now one of the proudest achievements of CMB’s occupational health and safety management system.”

The baton now passes to Davoli, a manager who grew up within CMB and has always stood alongside Zini on the Board of Directors, called to lead a company that in 2026 has surpassed one billion euro in turnover, with net profit above 21 million euro and a strong, well-structured order backlog. “It is fitting to extend my heartfelt thanks to President Zini, who led CMB through a long journey that overcame difficult times and sector crises, bringing the Cooperative to today’s successes. The governance change took place through a gradual process that began three years ago with the separation of the role of President from that of Group Director, alongside the adoption of a new organisational model, less territorially driven and more focused on product specialisation. This has enabled CMB to tackle highly complex projects and achieve growth of 20-25% over the past three years, with a work portfolio exceeding 3.3 billion euro between works and services.”
