The gateway to Expo: Milan without limits
CMB played its part in the universal exhibition. While the whole world was putting the spotlight on Italy, the challenge was to develop a high level engineering work of considerable aesthetic value in record time.
Arches, flyovers, viaducts and bridges describe the new skyline on the edge of Milan.
Today the vision of this great infrastructure is impressed in the mind of those entering the Lombardy capital.
BIG IMPACT ON THE A4 MOTORWAY
Thanks to the effect of the perspective when approaching, the two arches seem to move like a marine animal emerging from the ground.

Technical Description
The work forms part of a complex and structured system of redevelopment and territorial and urban innovation undertaken for the Universal Exhibition of 2015, aimed at enhancing the Lombardy territory as a whole and, in particular, guaranteeing necessary accessibility. Based on the design by Citterio-Viel, Pro Iter and Politecnica, the intervention is composed of a series of works of art, including the Cascina Merlata artificial tunnel and the EXPO viaduct.
The aesthetics of innovation
An impressive work that blends and dialogues with the territory. Besides the innovation of construction techniques, the project is also concerned with aesthetic aspects, uniting transparency and lightness. The colour and lighting choices have contributed to creating effects of perspective and to giving the Milan urban landscape more character.
